My creative take on the letterforms was to create each letter based on a different architectural style or designer. During the 36 days of this challenge, I discovered more about my ability to design as well as learning more about designers and architectural styles.
A is for Art Deco
B is for Bauhaus
C is for Contemporary - inspired by work from Ikko Tanaka
D is for Danish - inspired by Arne Jacobsen and his simple yet effective chair designs
E is for Egyptian
F is for Finnish - inspired by work from the graphic designer Lotta Nieminen
G is for Gothic - inspired by Notre-Dame de Paris
H is for Herbert Bayer - inspired by his poster for selling cigarettes in 1924
I is for Islamic - inspired by the geometric tile used in/on buildings
J is for Japanese - inspired by bright and vivid colors used in Japanese graphic design
K is for Chip Kidd - inspired by the logo that he created for Jurassic Park's book cover design
L is for Le Corbusier - inspired by Villa Savoye
M is for Mid Century Modern - inspired by Mad Men and art from the series
N is for Neoclassical
O is for Organic Architecture/Design - inspired by a quote from David Pearson
"unfold, like an organism, from the seed within."
P is for Pueblo Style
Q is for Queens - inspired by Queens, New York and the subway maps
R is for Roman Design - inspired by the sculpture of the head of a Roman Patrician dating back to the 1st century B.C.E.
S is for Sustainable Design - inspired by composting
T is for Tudor - inspired by thatched roofs and exposed timber frames
U is for Usonian Design - inspired by carpet Frank Lloyd Wright made for his son
V is for Vienna Succession - inspired by a poster created during the formal beginning of modern art in Austria
W is for Wumbo - ran out of architecture/design styles so had to switch to wumbology
X is for X-Ray - inspired by bones and colors
Y is for Yellowstone - inspired by Old Faithful Geyser in Yellowstone National Park
Z is for Zeus - inspired by his lightning bolt and comic strips
